Q is Born in China, now rooted in the Netherlands, she is a jazz flutist, vocalist, and composer whose music is as fluid and layered as her journey. Leading Qtet she creates a sound world where East meets West, where folk traditions meet modern jazz, and where stories unfold through melody, rhythm, and silence. 

Her music cannot be neatly described—it must be felt, just as a life cannot be fully understood until it is truly heard. Q blends spoken word, poetry, painting, and improvisation into her compositions, drawing from her Chinese heritage and personal philosophies. Every piece carries a part of her voice, her values, her questions. 

Qtet—featuring flute and voice, saxophone, piano, bass, and drums—is not just a band, but a collective of storytellers. Together, they bring Q’s compositions to life, while allowing space for each musician’s own narrative to shine. Q believes music is not just sound, but a way to connect, to inspire, and to move. Through each note, she shares her passion, her honesty, and her deep desire to offer something real to the listener. Her music is both a mirror and a journey—for herself, and for those who choose to listen.

Q graduated in 2025 from the Artez Conservatory in Arnhem. Her talent has been sought out by many already including Guus Tangelder Bigband, Benjamin Herman and Kika Sprangers. We’re very proud to host this local talent at our jazz concert series!

Her latest impressive project was called The Chronicle. It’s the result of collecting stories and emotions across cultures. Her growing interest in the visual arts, poetry and performance fuels her creative quest. To her, it all come from the same source: Emotion.
